NATLA Appoints Curriculum Developers

Specialists have been appointed for developing curriculum that promotes education about aging in grades K-12. The curriculum development appointees are: Deborah Rodriguez and Charlene Bustos, 1st and 2nd grade teachers in the San Angelo, Texas, ISD; Dr. Monica Schocken, 3rd grade teacher in the Lake Dallas, Texas, ISD; and Karen Brahn, 5th grade teacher in White Settlement, Texas, ISD. These appointments were the result of a NATLA-sponsored summer workshop "Gerontology in Education: Preparing for an Aging Society," conducted by NATLA's Director, Dr. Donna Couper. The curriculum development for teachers is part of a project funded by the Retirement Research Foundation.
