What is ECV?
ECV
- The Educational Consortium for Volunteerism - is
a special line item from the Texas State legislature to strengthen and
promote Volunteer Management in Texas. As part of that program the
University of North Texas offers an online certificate in
Volunteer and Community Resource Management, a certificate in
Non-profit Management through
American Humanics, Inc., a
minor in Leadership of Community in Nonprofit Organizations
and
in addition to hosting
professional development opportunities for nonprofit professionals.
What is the mission of ECV?
The mission of the Educational Consortium for Volunteerism at the University of North Texas
(UNT) is to enhance professional volunteer management and to foster more effective
volunteerism through university support.
In 1997, UNT's School of Community
Service received funding from the 75th Texas Legislature to create the Educational
Consortium for Volunteerism (ECV). ECV provides increased resources to
administrators in volunteer agencies and community development projects.
The Consortium offers classes and
certification in volunteer management, supports research on the problems and needs of
community volunteer organizations, seeks to identify and encourage the use of promising
new approaches, and serves as a gateway to university educational and technical assistance
to volunteer administrators. The Center for Public Service developed the ECV in
partnership with the Charles A. Dana Center at the University of Texas at Austin, and the
Texas Commission for Volunteerism and Community Service.
